2001-  Strangelove is born.
Strangelove shakes up the south african fashion week with “vampires on safari”.
featured on e-tv’s docu-soap “the cutting edge”. Strangelove wins first prize in their competition.

2002- Strangelove presents a highly acclaimed conceptual collection at south african fashion week; entitled “wind”. Strangelove wins “best men’s wear designers” and “best stand”.

2003- Strangelove presents three performance-based shows at carfax in newtown, johannesburg to audiences of discerning viewers. march: “the journey”; june: “taxi rank”; and the official south african fashion week closing party in august: “the crow and the skeleton”.
 
throughout 2003, Strangelove continues focus on collaborative art projects.

2004- Strangelove submits designs to the national olympic committee of south africa, and is awarded the contract to produce the uniforms worn by the south african olympic  team and its officials at the opening of the two-thousand-and-four olympic games in athens.
 
 the french institute in south africa invites Strangelove to present a collection at the two-thousand-and-four st. etienne biannual. this was the first time south africans were invited to present work at this renowned event. the presentation takes the form of a multi-media presentation involving dance, animated film and fashion; entitled “the locust”. performers from “the creative inner city initiative” in joubert park, johannesburg are used as part of the cast which travels to france.
 
 leading up to the st. etienne biannual, two separate diner theatre events are staged by Strangelove, both as part of the “locust series”. 
 
 a design competition entitled “made in africa” sees Strangelove’s wood and fabric “locust chair” allocated a place in the exhibit. it was also presented at the cape town design indaba.

 with their live art installations, Strangelove participates in a series of collaborative exhibitions at the johannesburg art gallery.

2005- Strangelove are invited to stage a showing for the opening of the cape town design indaba expo, as well as the “live art installation” on the first day of the design indaba seminars. Strangelove’s embodiment of the design indaba’s credo of showing and promoting “original conceptual homegrown design” makes them the natural choice.

2006- Strangelove collaborate with jose ferreira on a project for the “very real time series”, a local contemporary art initiative in conjunction with the rijksakademie in holland.

 Strangelove work with dancer and choreographer nelisiwe xaba on a dance piece for the two-thousand-and-six fnb dance umbrella. nelisiwe has a residency in paris, and has been asked to perform an extended dance piece at the african dance festival; carlo will join her there later this year. this piece will be performed again later this year in switzerland.
